Farmhouse Entryway // Progress!

THE FARMHOUSE As I mentioned last week, the Farmhouse entryway is still a ways from completion, but it already looks and functions a whole lot better than it used to!  I really love the direction this space is taking - historic, functional, bright, and full of authentic country feelings.

The lilacs were cut on Mother's Day, while we prepped our garden for planting.  I wish they'd stay colorful and vibrant in a crock like this all year round because they make me so very happy. But alas, I'll have to settle for a house plant or something when the blooms fade.

The entry table is an antique, which I bought in town a couple of weeks back.  I had Garrett cut it in half lengthwise so it wouldn't protrude too far into the hallway.  With 3 doors, 2 pocket doors, and a staircase in this space, I didn't want furniture to stifle flow.  I really love how it turned out!

You may recognize the bench from the Dexter House mudroom.  We swapped it out for a bank of theater seats last weekend (I had a few extras laying around from when I found these for our master bedroom).  The bench is actually an 1800's church pew and only 18" deep, so it fits in the small nook by the stairs perfectly.  The bench is also much easier for 19-month-old Brooks to get on and off of than folding theater seats.  I'm pretty smitten with it in this space!

This room still needs a giant mirror over the table, a new overhead light, an indoor/outdoor rug, storage for kids hats and coats (I'm toying with a row of shaker pegs above the bench and around the stair nook), and additional lighting over the bench.  And at some point, I'd like to swap out the stair runner because that brown kills me.

Next up, I'll share our office project with you guys (did you catch that glimpse of a navy blue wall in the picture above?!).  In the meantime, I'd love to hear what you guys think about our entryway progress!

xoxo
