Farmhouse Living Room // Inspiration

THE FARMHOUSE With the temperature hovering far below freezing these days, we've been spending a lot of time inside.  Which means I'm even more excited to craft a functional living space for us to enjoy this winter.  A couple of weeks ago, I shared the sofa we ordered for our living room, and today, I want to share my inspiration for the space.

I've mentioned before that we're casual people, and we want our living room to reflect that.  The blue velvet sofa will be the focal point of the room, but I'm also planning on incuding 2 vintage chairs (if I can find them), a large neutral rug, off-white walls, drapes, and vintage furniture storage for toys and TV equipment.  We'll be pulling up the carpet, and I'll let you in on a little secret: the living room carpet was laid AFTER the floors were refinished.  Which means we won't need to refinish these floors (phew!).  That'll save us time, money, and a lot of dust.

Okay, now for the inspiration.  Here are three living rooms that mixed a blue velvet sofa and vintage pieces to stunning results.

I don't think our space will turn out quite as eclectic as these rooms - we are afterall in a historic farmhouse - but I love them as inspiration.  What do you guys think?  Are you into these living spaces?
