A Bit of Holiday Cheer
THE RAVENNA HOUSE I know this is a house blog, so I should be showing you pictures of a gorgeously decorated house. But I really didn't want to show off or anything. You know with the perfectly decorated yet massive tree that takes up our entire living room and all those wreaths on the rainy side of our windows. Hmmmm...
Okay, Okay, I'll fess up. We don't have a Christmas Tree. In fact we hardly have any decorations up for our first Christmas in the Ravenna House. I feel pretty bad even writing that. It's not because we don't have Christmas cheer (really, there's lots of that here!), it's that we don't have a whole lot of room, plus we still haven't found our box of Christmas decorations from the last move. So we're going with a less is more approach to decorating this year.
I did manage to get a garland up on the mantle:
And Garrett's mom made some snowflake cutouts and hung them in the windows:
Lots of cutting involved in those, I think. That woman has patients the size of a Noel Log.
Did I mention that I made a Noel Log for the first time this year? Delicious!
But back to Christmas decorations...I thought it would be fun to take a peek around the web, and give you a wrap up of my favorite small-scale holiday decorations. Hopefully this will give me the motivation to decorate a little more next year, or at least find our box of decorations!

I love a Christmas tree as much as the next girl, but decorating with small-scale greens around the house is really fresh and festive, don't you think? I'm especially into that gorgeous wreath. And the garland on the stairs makes me wish that we had an open staircase (and a second story)! Really I'm just into the holidays.
This is the most special time of year, especially with a toddler! This year I'm hoping to start new traditions as a family. Like listening to Christmas music and making holiday cookies. And having a hot chocolate and marshmallow night (maybe even homemade marshmallows...?). We replaced Wilder's usual bedtime stories with Christmas books and at some point, I'd like to watch my favorite holiday movie, It's a Wonderful Life, together. Crossing my fingers Wilder will get even ten minutes into it before he gives up on the TV.
