Happy Friday 10/2/20

Happy Friday! How are you? Any exciting plans this weekend? We have homemade pizza on the agenda and some gardening. Our neighbor (have I mentioned we have the best neighbors?!) gave us some more starts for fall - this time it’s kale and other greens - and we’re excited to get them in the ground. Sounds just right for an October weekend.

Our fall Farmhouse garden

More from the week…

Have a messy house? Maybe you own too much. I’m raising my hand over here. After taking all the furnishings from Dexter House to our basement I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by our possessions. Hoping to clean everything out with a big yard sale when it feels safe! (becoming minimalist)

Made me laugh: Some people are getting hotter during the pandemic. How dare they. But really, howwwwwwww?! (thewashingtonpost)

This designer didn’t rush to create her dream home in Colorado. This isn’t my usual style but I sure love it…and the patience it took to create it! (clever)

Why you should take “kid-friendly” out of your vocabulary. I’m here for it. (emilyhenderson)

How to get the most out of your kitchen planning process. There’s so much good stuff in here…basically everything we’ve learned from 9 (soon to be 10) kitchen remodels.

Katherine and Bryan created the most beautiful attic master suite for her parents! Swoon. (beginninginthemiddle)

Have you been following Ashley Goldman’s kitchen remodel (it’s going to be SO good!)? I really appreciated her DIY fail post this week. We’ve been there too, more times than I care to remember, and it’s a good reminder that DIY isn’t just about the after photos. (thegoldhive)

The new helicopter parents are on zoom. I’m feeling this right now. You too? (nytimes)

This kitchen is so pretty. Thinking about doing something similar for the backsplash at the Poplar Cottage. (@kelseyleighdesignco)

The Norwegian concept of outdoor living. Inspiration for the coming cold weather. (kottke)

Loving this wreath for Fall (and this one and this one). We’re partnering with UrbanStems this month and they’re offering our readers 15% off + free shipping with code GRIT15. (UrbanStems)

And a friendly reminder…state by state voter registration deadlines. We get to vote soon! (@Sarah.epperson)

Have a good weekend!
