Happy Friday 11/8/19

Happy Friday! With the weather cooling off, we’re spending a lot more time playing inside these days. So the kid’s teepee made it’s way into the living room, which doubles (or more accurately is primarily) our playroom. I kinda love it in here. Someday we’ll get around to finishing this space, but in the meantime we’re enjoying it plenty.

More from the week…

Stop trying to raise successful kids. And start raising kind ones. “The real test of parenting is not what your children achieve, but who they become and how they treat others. If you teach them to be kind, you’re not only setting your kids up for success. You’re setting up the kids around them, too.” This feels like an important read as a parent. (atlantic)

Leigh and Ben’s house is one of my favorite old homes on Instagram and this ‘before and after’ of their mudroom is pretty amazing! (@house_1924)

Keanu Reeves is dating someone with…gasp…silver-gray hair and it’s “meaningful”. “For a time-tested public figure like Mr. Reeves to proudly stand there, beaming, with a woman who appears not to be in a battle against time sends a message to the rest of us.” I certainly hear that message…and my gray hairs do too. Loved this opinion piece on women’s beauty and age. (nytimes)

This week the One Room Challenge wrapped up and I’ve been making my way through the reveals. So far, Erin’s kitchen was a real standout and Jenni’s bathroom. I haven’t even gotten to the guest participants yet…anyone have favorites?

We’re entering the season of excess and it’s a good idea to set some boundaries. I couldn’t decide if I should share this article (there is so much more to holidays, after all), but I appreciate it as a reminder. The holidays are coming…let’s enjoy them without falling into the trap of excess. (becomingminimalist)

What to do with your leftover decorative pumpkins besides sending them to the landfill. We’ll be letting ours turn into volunteer pumpkins for next year out behind the garden. (thegoldhive)

Did you catch the tour we shared of a historic Bellingham four square yesterday? I’m completely in love with this woodwork-filled home and it’s providing ALL the inspiration for our own Farmhouse.

My winter coat is 30% off (with code FRIENDS). It’s my constant companion in the cold winter months around here (I’m a baby when it comes to the cold). I’m also obsessed with all these Liberty prints!

The Spruce named us one of the best old house Instagram accounts to follow and I’m totally blushing. But even better was finding lots of new old home accounts to follow (they’re all awesome!). (thespruce)

Have a great weekend!
