Happy Friday 11/22/19

Happy Friday! With 24 people expected around our Thanksgiving table next week, we’re trying to get the Farmhouse ready. But the first order of business is finishing the kitchen remodel. Thankfully we’re down to the finishes - paint, ordering a runner, collecting art, locating our spatulas, etc, etc, etc. Guests arrive on Tuesday so we’re hoping to be done by then plus get the beds made, the kegerator stocked, and be ready to cook up a feast. Do I sound calm? Don’t worry, I’m freaking out inside (but also really excited).

More from the week…

A Thanksgiving cooking schedule from a pro. Eek! I’m pretty sure we’re already behind…we don’t even have a turkey yet. 😱 (thefauxmartha)

Last week we learned that white kitchens are a solid investment (plus lots of great ways to keep them feeling fresh). And this week I learned that white kitchens are anything but boring. I’m crushing hard on this one! (@amberinteriors)

Our laundry room renovation was included in Domino’s Renovator Notebook this week! We shared more of the process and behind-the-scenes happenings and it’s a fun read. (Domino)

An inanely beautiful old house in New York for $5,000. No, I did not misplace that comma. And yes, you should really think about buying it and letting me come visit. (@cheapoldhouses)

How to create more meaning in your gatherings. Priya Parker believes that gatherings can change people. We grow and change ourselves through other people - through their stories, through their actions, through their opinions - so why shouldn’t a gathering hold meaning? And yes, sex, politics, and religion are on the table…maybe. Loved this 12-minute clip and it’s definitely worth a listen before Thanksgiving! (npr)

What’s your ideal home size? This post was an instant reader favorite and I’ve read and absorbed every single comment. I absolutely LOVE hearing how other people live in their homes!

It’s a stretch, I know, but…pizza delivery is for millionaires. Is it possible to save “$520,000 per decade…just from the tiny mindset switch”? It’s certainly got me thinking. (mrmoneymustache)

This home tour blew my socks off! Can you imagine cooking in that kitchen?! Filing this one away under “if we ever won the lottery” (and probably not even then). (allsortsof)

Do you kiss your children on the mouth? This post (and the amazing comment section) left me a little teary eyed as I cuddled Daphne this week. (cupofjo)

I’m not sure if we’ll put out any gift guides this year, but I wanted to point you to two that we created last year. These gift guides are full of wonderful things that we love and use at home: 1. curious kids who like to build and 2. new home owners, DIY renovators, home bodies, and old home lovers (basically us).

Have a great weekend!
