Six Fun Board Games to Play with Kids

Winter can put a damper on play. The early sunsets. The chattering teeth and runny noses. The lost mittens. If you’re a parent or caregiver, you get it. This time of year we spend a lot more time inside, and we’ve found that board games help us enjoy the season more. So today we’re sharing six fun board games that we enjoy playing with our kids.

Our kids are currently 6, 4, and 2 years old, but most of these games would be fun with older kids too. We really try to find games that Garrett and I enjoy playing along with the kids, and these games check that box.

In no particular order, here are the 6 games we’re playing on repeat right now.

one // Robot Turtles - Nana got our kids this game for Christmas this year and it’s been really fun. It subtly teaches kids how to code and adults get to partake with silly noises and moving the figures on the board. One thing I love is how you can vary the game for different ages. Our 4 and 6 year old enjoy this one!

two // Sequence for Kids - this is a bingo-type game filled with animals. All three of our kids can play this game and they really enjoy it! This is probably the best game on our list for the 3 and under crowd.

three // Jenga - yes, the game of your youth is just as fun as it was 20 (errr 30) years ago. I love that young kids can play and enjoy this just as much as older kids and adults.

four // Qwirkle - I love to play this game with the kids before bedtime (and we do a lot). Our 6-year-old is obsessed with it and our 4 and 2 year olds usually play on a team with Garrett and I.

five // Math Dice - this is a sneaky way to help your kids with addition and subtraction in a really fun way! Our 6 year old enjoys playing it almost as much as I do ;)

six // Set Junior - Garrett and I enjoy the regular version of Set, so it was fun to get the junior version for the kids. This one helps kids see similarities and is great for all ages - our 2-year-old enjoys it just as much as our 6-year-old does.
