Happy Friday 5/17/19

Happy Friday! I’m writing this at 9 o’clock on Thursday night, it’s dark outside and raining, but Garrett is out in the garden raking out pea gravel. What a catch, that man! He’s obviously just as excited to wrap up our garden project as I am. Not only will it free up time for other projects (I’m looking at you, kitchen), but we’re really looking forward to spending time out there this summer.

Other eventful happenings this week: we closed on the Poplar Cottage! Garrett and I are chomping at the bit to get started on that project, but right now it sits squarely behind our Farmhouse kitchen on the urgency list. Honestly, I’m not sure how those two projects are going to shake out this summer schedule-wise, but however they do, I’m feeling more excited about renovating than I have in a long time! Two dream projects at once :)

I finally ordered a rug for our boys shared bedroom (we’ve been rocking the rug-pad for a year now). Crossing my fingers this inexpensive plaid number is as good in person as it is on the screen.

Science’s newest miracle drug is free. And it’s right out your front door…yes please!

Business and babies.

Ode to the Pacific Northwest. Jessica Helgerson’s latest renovation project is amazing but it’s that built-in velvet sofa (with storage underneath) that has me dreaming!

How to make your own beeswax wrap. We’ve been using this beeswax for over a year now and it’s become a kitchen staple, and I’d like to try my hand at making it.

A collection of the best advice you’ve ever received.

Sleeping on the job. The interior designers who move in…yup, it’s Jersey Ice Cream Co. I love this quote from designer Tara Mangini: “There’s a fear of trying stuff out and I’m not sure where that comes from. It’s nice to see someone with an imperfect space – it’s stressful when someone’s house is pristine and everything is in place.” Also, I’m pretty sure Percy built this bed and I love it so.
