Today we’re rewinding back to 2015. We were living in the Ravenna House and trying to buy the Dexter House, which was a short sale. When I wrote this post (in January 2015), we were stuck in the middle of the closing process and there was no end in sight. Quite honestly, we were half expecting the entire transaction to fall apart.

We’re currently deep in wine country, soaking in the sun and scenery…and hotel pools. Our kids are all about the pools (and continental breakfasts)! I can’t even count the number of beaches we’ve played at or breweries we’ve visited, and we’re all feeling the lightness of a good trip!
Read MoreBack in 2016, we remodeled the original bathroom at the Dexter House for under $1000. Yes, $1000. Somehow I’ve avoided showing you this space for the better part of 3 years, despite knowing these are the kind of makeovers you guys usually love. So today I’m finally sharing how we updated this bathroom on such a small budget.

I’m one of those last-minute planners (pretty sure I didn’t used to be…) so we just got reservations and destinations nailed down. We’re driving from our Farmhouse in Washington to LA and then over to Arizona and back home. Currently on the agenda: a cabin in the redwoods, the Oregon sand dunes, an Airstream camp out, the La Brea tar pits, and my brother’s house in Prescott AZ! We have a few days to fill-in between the redwoods and LA, so let us know if there’s anywhere we should stop or things we should do in Northern California!

More color. More pattern. More life. So we teamed up with The Company Store to transform a classic white bed into one that’s patterned, colorful, and fresh for Spring. Read on for our favorite tips for adding color and pattern to your own bedroom.

Read MoreIn all the hub-bub around selling the Ravenna House last summer, we never got around to giving the house a proper goodbye. Homes are such an important part of our lives - like a member of the family in many ways - and we wanted to tell this old gal’s story and let her just…show off a bit.
Read MoreThe IKEA LENDA curtains in our master bedroom are almost 2 years old now, and over the years we’ve gotten quite a few questions about them. Do we like them? Are they light-blocking enough for a bedroom? How do they hold up, especially considering they’re so cheap? Well today we’re answering all those questions and sharing an honest (and unsponsored) review of our inexpensive LENDA curtain panels.
