Happy Friday 1/8/2021

Happy Friday! How are you? Goodness there’s probably not a simple answer to that question. The year certainly isn’t starting out like any of us expected and I wasn’t sure if it would feel appropriate to post here today. But I wanted to show up and say hi. And wish you a healthy and happy new year. I’m still optimistic for 2021…

More from the week…

Want to raise successful kids? Scientists report on a parenting style that creates better leaders. Garrett read this one over the break and mentioned it to me and I’m so glad I read it! (inc)

A Herefordshire farmstead with its period charm intact. Goodness, what a beauty! (houseandgardenuk)

I always like to check in with budgeting and finances this time of year and appreciated this: How to blow $10,000 in a year. Mind blowing, right?! (@createcultivate)

What unlacquered brass hardware looks like as it ages. Personally I love the look!

Why and when our hair goes gray. My mom sent this one to me and I thought it was so interesting! Diet, stress, genetics…well it’s complicated. (washingtonpost)

Everything to know about how to hang curtains. (boxwoodavenue)

I’ve been a little obsessed with pink walls lately and these do not disappoint! (@clarenceandgraves)

Self care this winter dictates that I extend my sourdough practice to breakfast rolls. So I’ve been playing around with this sourdough cardamom roll recipe and highly recommend if you’re a sourdougher! (theperfectloaf)

The coolest pink nursery! I love how Ashley mixed up the stereotypical colors for babies. (thegoldhive)

It’s not that hard not to buy nothing. “Some people re-evaluated their relationship to things in 2020. Here’s what they learned…” I found this really interesting. (nytimes)

I watched Bridgerton (on Netflix) over the holidays and have to describe it as Pride and Prejudice (the BBC miniseries version from the ‘90s) meets Shonda Rhimes and it sparkles! (Just don’t watch it with your kids ; )

I got Garrett and I some new books for Christmas this year including ‘the Children’s Bible: a novel’ after seeing it on NYTimes top 10 list. I flew through it in 24 hours! (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Have a good weekend!
