These Garden Bed Covers are Kinda Similar to the One Garrett Made Me

Remember when Garrett took up welding and made me this beautiful garden bed cover for the Farmhouse? It really is one of my favorite things ever. So many people have asked where to buy one, and I’ve always had to say “sorry, Garrett made it”. BUT…I found some bed covers with a similar shape and they’re sure to do the job just as well. Read on for some quick and easy garden upgrades…

For those of you new around here, Garrett made the garden bed cover back for me in 2021. We were all deep into covid, making sourdough, and spending ungodly amounts of time with our family (which, for the record, we loved!). Naturally, Garrett took up welding. I think it was part mental health outlet for him and part trying to stay busy, but welding turned out to be a fun hobby for Garrett. And when I mentioned a garden bed cover, he took the project and ran with it. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined!

I have to say, of all the things Garrett has made me (like curved marble backsplashes, an adorable chicken coop, and a Devol-inspired hanging laundry rack) this is a favorite! It took months to make and turned out so good. I am a really lucky lady :)

When we sold the Farmhouse two years ago, the buyers asked for the garden bed cover in the sale, so sadly I no longer have it. But I have high hopes of having another made for me one day (hint, hint Garrett!).

What is a Garden Bed Cover?

Garden bed covers are a convenient way to protect plants while adding interest to your garden. Covers do major pest control, keeping deer, chickens, rabbits, birds, and other pests who steal seeds and dig up carrots out of your plants. They can also help contain plants and keep weeds from spreading.

Is a cold frame the same thing?

Nope. While a cold frame covers a bed similar to a cover, it has solid sides and acts like a mini green house. The solid sides keeps the air inside the frame warmer so you can grow earlier and later than a typical growing season, extending your garden produce. The hinged sides allow you to work in the garden and also bring in air flow. I included one beautiful one in the roundup since it’s a similar look and would be really handy for any gardener.

For those of you without a Garrett in your life, I wanted to share garden bed covers that pretty and sure to do the job just as well. There’s everything in here from raised bed size to single plant covers. Have a look…
