Happy Friday 7/11/25

Happy Friday! How are you? We’re home from California and getting back into the swing of things. I have to say, one of my favorite parts of our road trip was driving all 2700 miles screen free. I know it sounds kinda boring, but it was actually delightful. As in lots of moments of delight. We saw all the sights, listened to music, read a ton, colored, chatted, and made a list of all 50 states and crossed them off one by one with every license plate we found. There were squabbles and plenty of “keep your hands to yourselves!”, but all in all…delightful! Anywho, wishing you a lovely weekend!

Some links from the week…

Fun fact, you can visit the place that inspired Frank Herbert’s 'Dune’ and it’s in Oregon (shown above).

Sarah Sherman Samuel took s a “castle gone wrong” and spun it into a palace for her family. “I’ve never lived in a house as if I’ve done it for a client, like where the light switches are nice and every single thing is done and decorated.”

How to keep on the sunny side of life. “Ensuring a daily dose of sunlight will be good for your happiness.”

I wear this face sunscreen everyday and it doubles as lotion (currently on sale!).

One thing we always ask ourselves after coming home from vaca: how can we get more of that vacation house feel at home? I shared my thoughts this week on the blog.

We picked up this beautiful book at the La Brea Tar Pit gift shop and it was a huge hit with the kids. Highly recommend…the book and La Brea! (amazon, indiebound)

How Jennifer Garner gets better with age. She is just lovely!

Pretty sure this album is the anthem of summer. We listened to it no less than 1,826 times on our road trip.

Loved reading Sara’s experience swapping out her smartphone for a dumbphone. Anyone else intrigued by the possibility? (ps landlines are a fun idea too!)

Currently listening to this historical fiction. It’s terrific! (amazon, indiebound)

Have a good one!
