Happy Friday 8/8/25

Happy Friday! One of the best lessons this little cottage has taught us is the value of letting a home evolve. We’ve been renovating the Poplar Cottage for almost 5 years now (😳🫣😊) and living in it for just over six months, and while we’ve made plenty of progress, there’s still no art on the living room walls and we only just figured out what kind of curtains belong on the kitchen windows. And you know what? That slow approach has really worked for this house. Every home has its own timeline. And when you stop rushing, the house can show you what it wants to become. Though don’t get me wrong, we are very, very excited to finish this 5-year-long project ;)

Why we should all be slow decorating.

We’re still loving the jute rug we layered over the living room hardwoods - adorable, neutral, and affordable.

This charming cottage of a ballerina and an antiques dealer is proof that character comes with time…and plenty of vintage.

Daphne asked to get her ears pierced for her birthday and I decided to do it with her and get my second holes done! Eeek! Can’t wait to wear stacked huggies like these (or maybe I’ll ask for these as an anniversary gift!).

We’re furnishing two houses right now, which is a little overwhelming but mostly SO FUN, and here’s the vintage furniture, art, and decor I’m looking for.

This easy cocktail recipe (served in a beer can!) feels so effortlessly cool.

Listened to this book this week and I can’t recommend it enough! It’s about love and sisterly bonds and excelling at life even when given a crap hand. Definitely add this one to your list.

Here’s to a weekend of good light, good finds, and letting your home evolve one layer at a time. psst: next week we’re sharing our front yard progress and it might just include an adorable picket fence… stay tuned!
