Happy Friday! 9/4/26

Happy Friday! This week I saw a house on Instagram that I can’t stop thinking about. It’s this little Cape Cod cabin by Wildflower Home, and it’s one of the coolest projects I’ve seen in a long time. It feels timeless and fresh, full of dark wood and old pieces that are storied and personal, but still comfortable. Ten out of ten!

It also has me thinking about restraint. We talk so much about what to change when we renovate, but sometimes good design is knowing what to leave alone. Would I have had the restraint to keep all that dark wood - including those old kitchen cabinets? I’d like to think so :) But either way, it’s such a good reminder that old doesn’t necessarily need to be lightened, painted, or replaced to feel fresh. What do you think? Are you team “keep the wood,” or would you have painted it?

Wishing you a lovely long weekend!

A few things that caught my eye this week:

This week we moved a 335lb cast iron tub upstairs to the ensuite bathroom and it. was. a. JOB! But seeing it in place… worth every single pound!

Our whole family is loving this farming show. I know, farming - but it really is fun! Here’s the trailer.

Hot tip: Garrett swears by this underrated tool and we have used it approximately 1000x this summer between moving and renovating.

This Grandma furniture piece is having a major moment. Added it to my Facebook Marketplace watch list :)

This week’s thoughtful read is an opinion piece on selling a family home. It’s never easy.

These are the easiest non-jean pants to wear (and on sale). It’s hard to find pants that work for the office or dinner out and still be comfortable enough to wear on an airplane - these are them!

This week we shared the wood vanity we added to the ensuite bathroom and rounded up a few more. Isn’t it a stunner?!

What a cute and easy boot drying rack idea.

My favorite lunch, lately. Keep it simple and all that ;)

Picked up this clever, funny, tender book this week and am enjoying the heck out of it. It’s a bit silly but maybe (probably) that’s why I’m loving it.

We’re heading into our favorite weekend of the year and signing off early (our local fair and rodeo is here!). Wishing you a lovely Labor Day weekend!
