Happy Friday! 10/30/26

Happy Friday! Happy Friday! And happy Halloween weekend! Oh my goodness, this fall is passing way too quickly, and this week I found myself wanting to put on the brakes. So I did what any reasonable woman would do: steamed the sofa, did the laundry, vacuumed the floors, baked zucchini bread, and got the snug ready for fall (soft blanket + forest scent + pillows!). The kids and I immediately snuggled up and watched Sleepless in Seattle. Soft rain on the skylight, soup in the crockpot… it was basically my middle-aged idea of a perfect lazy afternoon :) Wishing you a lovely, slow weekend.

the snug: couch (ink cap), cotton blanket, cashmere blanket, brown pillow, blue pillow, rug, sconce, paneling, skylight, bamboo shade, floors, paneling and milwork

A few things that caught my eye this week:

The comfort of clutter: why having lots of ‘stuff’ brings us joy. Do you agree? I did like this designer’s perspective: “I love being surrounded by things that we’ve collected slowly over time – some things are handmade, some things might have been given to us by friends, and some things I might have made or picked up from a junk shop on a weekend away.”

This Charlotte home stopped me in my tracks this week! The wood-clad is a stunner. The home was constructed in 1964 but it reads more 1864 - so beautifully done! .

A trick to falling back asleep. I swear it actually works!

Leave it to Emily Henry to create the coolest book cover!

Do you let your kids eat their halloween candy? Here’s an argument for just that.

This week on the blog we shared our solution for a shower curtain rod with a sloped attic ceiling. But I have a hot tip for all bathrooms: use a cut-to-order rod like our’s instead of an adjustable shower curtain rod for something more elevated, sturdy, and seamless. We can ask more of our shower curtain rods ;)

This stunning historic home was dismantled, moved, and rebuilt piece by piece. What a journey!

Art is everywhere.

Finally got my hands on this popular book from an author I love. It’s so beautifully written and a thoughtful story but I’m having a hard time getting into it. Do I keep at it?

Have a good one!
