Happy Friday 8/29/25

Happy Friday! And happy Labor Day weekend! Eeek! It’s hard to believe that August is just about gone. Summer always seems to move at its own pace - slow and sticky and then suddenly it’s gone in a blur of sunscreen and melted icd cream. And this one was full! We road-tripped down the West Coast to Catalina Island, camped in the Redwoods under towering trees, paddle-boarded around Seattle, and spent countless hours on the trampoline with a sprinkler underneath. We ate our weight in ice cream (Molly Moon’s still has our hearts, but soft serve is making a strong case this year). And in between the summer fun, we checked off a few projects - like putting in a new picket fence and finally finishing the Poplar Cottage siding (more on that soon!). It wasn’t always restful (summer rarely is with kids, let’s be honest ;), but it was good and we got just enough time offline to come back feeling inspired again. Can’t wait for all the projects we have lined up for Fall! But for now, we’re holding onto this last bit of summer. Wishing you a lovely long weekend.

Some fun links from the week…

Revisited this Ohio guesthouse this week (shown above). There’s so much beauty in simplicity! Also: do you like showering in a clawfoot tub? I find it quirky but Garrett hates it and I can totally appreciate that.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for a new purse and when I saw this beautiful bag on someone last week, I had to ask where it was from. Ordered the large that night!

One of my kiddos entered the youth baking competition at our local fair this week and of course he used the very best chocolate chip recipe (do you agree?!).

This is quite possibly the most romantic setting to get engaged.

Design trends for Fall. I’ve got to say, these are all pretty great ‘trends’.

This week we shared all the details on our new picket fence at the Poplar Cottage. It’s a cutie ;)

The kids talked me into watching KPop Demon Hunters with them this week and I gotta say, it was a delight! Here’s the trailer.

A fun fashion look for Fall (polished and utilitarian)! I’m never more excited about clothes than the start of the BER months.

Just checked out this book from the library and it’s one of my favorite reads all year!

We always watch a scary movie over Labor Day (how these quirky traditions come about, I don’t know!). Any recommendations?

Have a good one!
