Finding a Vintage Piece for the Primary Nook

THE FARMHOUSE

For a year now, I’ve been looking for the right piece of furniture to go in our primary nook. I wasn’t necessarily being super picky - I wanted something with charm that would fit between the window and the wall and have some storage - but it eluded me nonetheless. Well the hunt is finally over!

I found this vintage cabinet (pie safe?) on FBMP and snapped it up for $200. It’s old and made of fir (I think) and best of all, is narrow enough to fit in the space between the primary nook window and wall. Plus it’s old and it’s simple details fit in perfectly in our 1912 Farmhouse IMO :)

I plan to fill this linen cabinet with towels, sheets, and blankets. And I may replace the screening on the door with linen-ey panels ala this inspiration.

The thought of painting the cabinet has also crossed my mind. I’d pick a pretty complimentary cream or light green/gray ala this inspiration (I dug in the comments and the vanity color is Intrigue by Benjamin Moore).

I know, it feels a bit like blasphemy to talk about painting old wood furniture, BUT…we have SO much wood in this space already and I don’t want it getting too heavy. Then again I do love wood furniture, so we’ll see…

For now, I’m just really happy to have a furniture piece in here and a little extra storage for the bedroom and bathroom linens!

What do you think? Would you paint it?
