Happy Friday 5/2/25

Happy Friday! And happy May! It’s lilac season around here and the air smells so good. My kids are sick of me taking detours around town to point out all the pink trees and purple bushes, but holy moly Nature really is something! Wishing you a beautiful weekend.

Here are some links from the week…

Life hack: cut lilacs in the house will make you smile 10x a day :) These are from the Hill House and here’s how I keep them from wilting.

A family’s New York apartment from 1996. Is anyone else having a moment with the 90’s? I think it’s the nostalgic vibe (I was a teenager in the 90s) and lived-in, well-loved interiors.

This inexpensive tote bag is my current purse/carry-all/sports bag and I get so many compliments on it!

A surprising route to the best life possible. “I have found that paradoxically life goes more smoothly when you take on difficulties rather than try to avoid them.“

Found: budget bamboo shades that alllmost look like Chik Blinds! Love how they look in the Poplar Cottage!

This “dated” 1980s bedroom trend is officially back in a big way. But we’ve always loved it, right?!

Listened to this podcast on the brain last weekend on our way back from Eugene (Garrett rocked the marathon, btw!) and we were all fascinated by it, kids included. Turns out one of our kids has synesthesia and I’m in awe with how he sees the world.

Skip the curtains and try Joanna Gaines’ unique window treatment idea instead. Okay, are we all into these DIY interior shutters? I’m definitely using them in one of the Hill House bathrooms!

I’ve been in a bit of a fiction rut lately (any rec’s?), but I just picked up this novel and so far the writing is excellent!

Have a good one!
