Happy Friday 11/27/20

Happy Friday! How was your Thanksgiving? We celebrated over zoom, watched the Peanut’s Thanksgiving movie and ate our weight in pie. Feeling extra thankful for our health, home, and family this year and crossing all my digits that we can celebrate in person next year!

Thank you for being here! Spending your time with us, following along on our projects, and lending your advice, thoughts and feedback. We keep working on the Grit and Polish because of your support and readership (it’s also really fun!) and we don’t take that lightly. We’re so thankful for all of you!

More from the week…

The perfect pink walls…and simple holiday decor. Swoon! (@skymcapline)

Ever wonder if it’s less expensive to buy vintage/used/antique? Natasha Habermann (who’s house I’m obsessed with and shred a tour of here) laid out exactly how much she’s saved on antique purchases and I was blown away! (natashahabermann)

The losses we share. Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex wrote a beautiful piece about her recent miscarriage. I know that particular pain and am thinking about all of you that do too this Thanksgiving weekend. (nytimes)

What a beautiful home in Oxfordshire England. It’s simple and welcoming and I could absolutely live here. (domino)

Inspiration. (@trainwithjoan)

We’re decorating for Christmas this weekend but I wanted to share last year’s Farmhouse holiday tour and the Porch House holiday tour from 2017 (right before we sold the house to Garrett’s parents).

2020 Oxford word of the year. It turns out this year was too much to fit into just one word. (npr)

Daphne’s Christmas present this year. It’s the first doll I’ve ever bought (she’s been asking for one) and I’m so excited about all those small clothes and accessories! Just wish I had waited for their 20% off sale going on right now. (hazelvillage)

This tabletop is a work of art! (cocokelley)

I listened to ‘In Five Years’ last week and goodness, what a tear jerker! But I loved it. (amazon affiliate, indiebound

And a few sales I’m eyeing:

J.Crew - 50% off (I ordered this coat and these holiday PJs for the kids)

Bloomist - $25 off $125 (I’m obsessed with this candle)

Staub cast iron dutch oven (it’s the best!)

Rejuvenation - 20% off (my first stop for lighting, hardware, and rugs)

Lulu and Georgia - 25% off with code thankful (I’m thinking about their wallpaper for Poplar)

Have a good weekend!
