Happy Friday! 8/21/26

Happy Friday! I saw a kitchen this week that I can’t stop thinking about. It’s warm, collected, full of character, and so so beautiful. But the detail that really caught my attention was this: they took out a sizable kitchen island and replaced it with a vintage worktable. Which got me thinking, would I do that?

My design brain says absolutely! My practical brain, which cooks a lot and has three kids constantly circling the kitchen, has some questions ;) I’m always drawn to old furniture pieces and I love kitchens that don’t feel overly kitchen-ey, but I also really appreciate a big work surface, storage, and a place for everyone to land. Pretty vs. practical… where do you stand?

Wishing you a lovely weekend!

A few things that caught my eye this week:

Is ‘gentle parenting’ ruining French children? (I loved Dr. Becky’s response.)

My sister surprised me with this popular candle. Our home has never smelled better!

This list of memorable movie houses is spot on! It’s Complicated might just be my favorite.

Why new builds are now designed to look like historic homes. Seems like we really are “shaking off the crisp minimalism of the 2010’s”.

The four dresses to have in your wardrobe.

Filing away this DIY plate rack project - so cool!

Have you heard, rugby stripes are in for Fall.

Modern isn’t always my thing, but this brand new home is stunning and I could live there in a heartbeat (and it’s in our small town!).

Sometimes you read a good thriller and forget to share it with fellow book lovers. So here I am, sharing this one. It’d be a great vaca read if you have a trip coming up!

Have a good one!
