Happy Friday 4/3/25

Happy Friday! We had a little wifi hiccup over here this week, so just one post, but we’re officially back online! I’ll admit, the unplugged stretch was kind of nice - more board games, less work, and no one seemed too upset about it. Anywho, in between all that, we installed the perfect swing-arm sconce in the snug up at the Hill House and I have to show it to you. It’s a little whimsical, pulls out like a proper reading light, and has the prettiest pleated fabric shade. Exactly the kind of light I was hoping to find for our cozy snug.

Hill House updates…

  • We insulated our attic! And by we I mean professionals that used blown in insulation in our tiny attic space above the upstairs. We’ve been meaning to do it for quite awhile, and in the end, it only took a couple hours, max.

  • Next week we’ll be sharing a big post on the Hill House skylights, but in the meantime, you can see more of the install here.

  • Garrett finished installing all the built-in drawers this week. We’ve used a couple of online companies for custom drawer boxes in the past but this time went local and the guys at Northwest Dovetail in Yakima knocked it out of the park.

Links from the week…

How to afford the country estate of your dreams? Split the bill in half! Would you ever?!

I’ve been on a multiple-year exhaustive search for the great tee at a reasonable price and I finally found it! It comes in V-neck and crew neck and I sized up for a roomier fit in the armpits (if you happen to have issues with tight armpits like me).

A Broadway actress turned her apartment into a Victorian dollhouse and it’s a stunner.

It feels like every designer is telling us the same thing: “your home needs more whimsy”. And can I say, I just love where interior design is heading these days.

My dream mid-stair landing (not that I have a mid-stair landing, but I did say dream ;) has a cozy window bench and books like this one. Feels like a recipe for a perfect summer afternoon.

This thriller of a novel kept me company while cleaning out the second kitchen and mudroom at the Hill House this week and it made the chore fly by in a happy bliss!

Wishing you a lovely Easter weekend.
