Happy Friday! 7/3/26

Happy Friday! And happy Fourth of July weekend! Any fun plans? It's been a full few weeks around here between packing, settling into a semblance of a summer routine, and squeezing in as much work on the Hill House as we can, so a little getaway feels especially welcome. We're heading to Seattle for a couple days to watch fireworks from a rooftop, eat all the good city food we can find, and enjoy a change of scenery before jumping back into renovations (I can't wait to show you the ensuite bathroom tiles next week!). Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend!

A few things that caught my eye this week:

This summer, craft a home full of folklore. “With folk culture’s focus on natural materials, community, and a lifestyle rooted in the land, it’s no wonder that the aesthetic has become more enticing now than ever”

Yum! Ina Garten’s flag cake is just right for the 4th of July.

Scientists tracked 1,000 kids for 40 years; if you want to raise happy, successful kids, focus on this.

Ooo how pretty is this Paris apartment?!

Have you watched the John Adams miniseries? Here’s the trailer. I’ve rewatched it twice now and I always think about it over the 4th.

This Nantucket home is so beautiful - elevated but full of color and whimsy.

Eyeing this rug for the boys bedroom. Wouldn’t it look pretty with their blue walls?!

Life is better with siblings”.

When cancer touched our family this year, Garrett recommended this “magnificent, humane ‘biography’ of cancer" to me. It’s written by a world-class oncologist who also happens to be a Pulitzer-Prize winning author (how?!) and indeed it’s one the best book I’ve read in years. Highly recommend!

Have a good one!
