Happy Friday 8/22/25

Happy Friday! This week has me thinking about all the little tricks and surprises that make an old house endlessly delightful. Sometimes it’s a pocket door that tucks neatly into a wall, beautiful interior shutters, or a tiny closet in a kids’ room that doubles as a secret play space. None of these are grand things - they’re just clever little touches that make everyday life feel smoother, brighter, and a lot more charming. It’s the thoughtful details and the subtle quirks that give an old house its personality, ya know?!

THIS 1940s cottage (shown above). There are a million beautiful details - go check out the interior shutters in that black sunroom!

Picked up these jeans last week and they’re so flattering. And what a great price!

The one quality super-agers share.

This week we shared all the details on how we install and hang pocket doors including where we look for solid vintage doors and how we retrofit them. It’s a meaty post so bookmark it in case you ever tackle one!

I’ve searched high and low for a good dry shampoo and finally found it! Works like a dream!

Haha

“My fellow parents have betrayed me.” How it feels when your allies in the fight for a phone-free childhood buy one for their fifth-grader. Enjoyed this one!

Just checked out this book. It’s gotten so much praise and I can’t wait to dig in!

Here’s to a weekend where even the smallest spaces and details bring big smiles.
