Happy Friday 9/26/25
Happy Friday! And happy Fall! Quick - four things you’re most excited about this season. Mine are, in no particular order… 1. Warm foods like soup, chai tea lattes, and pie! 2. Movie nights, which are so much better when it’s dark and chilly outside (we went to Whidbey Island over the summer and I can’t wait to rewatch Practical Magic, which was filmed there!). 3. The giant maple tree that’s already turning around the corner from the Hill House. 4. Halloween - I didn’t love it until we moved into the trick-or-treat hotspot in our small town. Now it’s one of my favorite nights of the year! Okay fine, five: cold, brisk morning runs. Now your turn…what are you most excited for this Fall?!

The new (but not really new at all) haircut for Fall.
Kitchen islands are…out?! I gotta say…I’m surprised but also love the replacement ideas. A work table island is definitely a contender for the Hill House.
A soulful carriage house where the garage is as chic as the billiards room (shown above). What a stunning structure…and that garden!
Look at Harry Styles impressing us all with a fast marathon! On a running note… I just bought these shoes on a friend’s recommendation. I love that they cross that tricky threshold of being cute enough to wear around AND solid enough to run a race in!
It’s candle season! Just picked up this one and this one and love the scents.
Did you know you can install a mini split yourself? Just in time for cold temps, we shared our experience with the mini split we installed at the Poplar Cottage and the total cost (spoiler: it’s WAY less than most heating/cooling systems!).
Have you heard, the 90’s kitchen TV is back! Honestly I’m pretty smitten with 90s decor right now, probably because that’s when I grew up and it predates the internet so feels more authentic…or something like that.
Made this soup last week with a rotisserie chicken and had leftovers for lunch all week. It’s one of those ‘all about the toppings’ soups that can be customized by every member of the family.
Would you live on a ferry boat?
Fall always has me thinking about fashion so this book hit the mark. It’s the deliciously-told story of Coco Chanel and takeaways from her life/style/business. I couldn’t put it down.
Wishing you a lovely FALL weekend!
