Happy Friday 5/16/25
Happy Friday! Any exciting weekend plans? We’re celebrating Papa’s 70th birthday with a bbq and his favorite cake. You’ve seen Papa here on the Grit and Polish again and again and again because he’s always lending us a hand with renovations and kids and anything and everything! Papa is a retired electrician and has wired every single one of our old houses (going on 9!). I won the father-in-law jackpot! Happy birthday Papa! Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Here are some links from the week…
“The secret to low-stress gardening I learned from Pride & Prejudice” (show above). I’m totally fascinated by meadowscaping!
Got crafty this week and made a pleated lampshade. It isn’t my first and it won’t be my last but it’s my favorite and I shared a tutorial.
Rita Konig’s new project is…no surprise here…lovely.
New kicks! After a couple years of wearing (and washing) white sneakers, I decided a darker color would be a good idea (and they’re budget-friendly!).
This creamy cozy kale white bean soup is on my list with the garden-fresh kale Nana dropped off last night! I’ve become a year-round kind of soup gal. You too?
Design pros say this beloved interior style is completely “overdone”. I’ll always love it ;)
An era of ‘deconsumption’ is upon us.
Sometimes it takes your son telling you your hair is looking ‘a little brassy’ to get you back on your purple shampoo routine. Ha! But really, it’s THE BEST for blondes and grays!
This lovely book made me so excited for summer! I’m a sucker for any book with a good lake house in it. (amazon, indiebound)
Have a good one!
